My husband drove home from a baseball game where he had just umped 3 games. He was tired, thirsty and hungry and was thinking of nothing more than getting home. That morning when he had left, I, as usual, had waved "goodbye" and silently said my usual prayer for safety and happiness for him on this trip.
He sped down the four-lane highway at top speed. About a half hour into the drive home, he noticed a noise from the right side of the car but didn't think much about it. It was a small noise. But within the next half hour, it became a big noise, so he stopped to investigate. His right front tire was missing a piece of rubber 8 inches in diameter and the rubber around that was shredded like a julienned carrot! The cords were bulging outward. He phoned me to say he was five minutes away, but he didn't tell me about the tire.
When he came in the door, I knew something was amiss. He explained the situation and we went out to see this tire. It was indeed shredded! We immediately thanked God for getting him home safe and sound, firmly believing that God saved his life.
How many times have you prayed "little" quick prayers? Do you realize that God hears these prayers--even the small ones? I think we often take prayer for granted. We say them quickly and sometimes by rote and think no more about them. But God remembers them. He might not answer them the way we expect Him to answer them, or within the time frame we have in our minds. But God is in control of our lives--completely. He loves us and takes care of us daily.
